Muncie – George K. Herron Jr., 73, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.
George was born on October 10, 1938 in New Castle the son of George K. and Alba M. (Cook) Herron Sr., and was a graduate of Cowan High School.
Mr. Herron proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for over 36 years with Westinghouse in the Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1997. George was a member of several bowling leagues, and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Herron, Muncie; four step-children, Michael McMichael, Muncie, Rusty McMichael, (wife-Patty), Akron, Ohio, Brian McMichael, (wife-Bonnie), Farmland, and Renee Batt, (husband-Danny), Muncie; two sisters, Maxine Young, Muncie, and Gerrie Bailey, Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and a nephew.
He was peceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joan Herron; a step-son, Ronnie Blackstein; a brother Hugh Herron; and two sisters, Mary Bartling, and Esther Blankenbaker.
