George “Jack” McCabe, 85, of Bristol, husband of Mae (Peterson) McCabe, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Bristol Hospital. Jack was born January 10, 1922, in Bristol, a son of the late Arthur and Maude (St. Arnauld) McCabe.

Jack attended local schools, graduating from Bristol High School, and later obtained a degree in Tool and Die Making. Mr. McCabe was employed by Associated Spring (Barnes Group) of Bristol for many years until his retirement. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II. Jack was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, bowling, and golf, and was a former coach for Little League Baseball. He was a past president of the Forestville Boy’s Club Senior Members, and a past president of Pequabuck Golf Club. He was a member of the Bristol Senior Citizens, D.A.V., and The American Legion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marilyn McCabe of Bristol, two sons, Bill McCabe and his wife Sue of Plainville, and Bob McCabe and his wife Joyce Dobbertin of St. Johnsbury, VT., 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
