George G. Soares, 96, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
George was born on September 24, 1924, in Portugal to the late Manuel and Zulmira Soares. Raised in Portugal, he came to the US at age 18. He joined the Army and became a Combat Medic in World War II in the South Pacific, earning two Purple Hearts and reaching the rank of Master Sargent.
George was a tool and die maker who ended his career as a facilities manager for the Bell Laboratories think tank, Crawford Hill, in New Jersey.
Predeceased by his devoted wife, Mary Soares, he is survived by his two loving children, George Jr., and Manuela Soares; 3 grandchildren, Alyssa, Genevieve, and Juliette; 6 great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends.
