On February 2, 2020, George Frederick Leipold, Jr., “Lee,” to those close to him, passed following a long illness bravely born.  He was 90.

Born in Baltimore, the beloved son of George, Sr., and Mildred (nee Sappington) he would later live in Glen Burnie.  This however would follow numerous and varied residences in states like Nevada and Oklahoma, out west and Florida and North Carolina, back east.  The balance of his years, 50, would be spent in Glen Burnie.

A patriotic man, Lee elected to serve the country in the Air Force during the Korean war.  Following the war he would  venture into the sales field to make a living.  Lee was a born salesman and enjoyed his chosen vocation.  He spent many years bringing new awnings and swimming pools to many satisfied clients in the area.  He was very friendly and enjoyed talking with everyone.  He would love to tell jokes and even compiled a “joke book,” as it were, over the years.  One favored past time was frequenting the Sunset Restaurant where he would spend time with friends while nursing  a good drink.

Lee joins his dear wife of 50 years, Catherine (nee Jacobs) in passing, together again after many years.

He is survived by his loving daughter Darlene Dorothy Halbritter and her husband David and devoted son George, III, and wife Mary “Teresa” (nee Magrogan.)  Lee will be deeply missed by his cherished grandson Michael Ross Leipold as well as any and all who knew him.
