George Richard Fisher Jr. died in his home late Tuesday night, Dec, 8th, 2015. of a heart attack at age 65. Born November 1, 1950, in Muskegon MI, to George and Charlotte Fisher. After attending Whitehall High School, he joined the Navy and served between 1972-74 on the USS Point Defiance and the USS Wipple as a Marine Mechanic. While in the Navy, he became lifelong friends with George Anderson. After serving in the Navy, George worked as a roofer, a carpenter, and a cabinet maker. Because of his love for the sea, he attended the Maritime Academy in Traverse City, MI, where he learned to sail commercial vessels. Later, he learned to drive semi trucks and continued to do so until he retired from Gold-Eagle Co-op in 2014. George was a lifelong learner and always carried a book. Although he read and studied many topics, nothing could replace his devotion to the study of the Bible. The last few years of his life were split between building his home with friends and family and learning about music. George was preceded in death by his son Glenn and his mother Charlotte. He is survived by his father George, his brother Andy, his children: Jerry, George, Sam, Jennifer, Rachael, Rebecca; and his grandchildren: Avery, Kayle, Evan, Aiden, Gabriel, Farah.
