George was a small business owner, a lifelong resident of Tidewater. He was the owner and manager of The Village Mailbox in Churchland, Portsmouth, Virginia for many years, and A-L Upholstery Inc. for 38 years. He was quite an entrepreneur as he started 4 businesses and Budget Truck Rentals, A-L Upholstery Co. Marine Inc., The Village Mailbox , A-L Headliners, and a boat top and seat service all in the Academy Shopping Center. He was a member of Esther Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Portsmouth, Virginia and a 32nd degree Mason.George was a loving husband, father, and friend who will always be remembered for his hard working ethics and entrepreneurial skills, but what was most important to him was being with his wife and children. He was a dedicated Christian. His daily habits were devotions and prayer during breakfast each morning. He made a difference in the lives of many and heaven only can tell the impact his love and compassion for others has made for the Kingdom of God.He is survived by his wife, Yvonne of 42 years; sons, David Clark Stevens, Scott Evan Stevens of Chesapeake, and Matthew Aleem Stevens and his wife, Lily; grandsons, Fred and Mickie; granddaughter, Nicole of Yuma, Arizona; daughter, Ambica Manocha; grandsons, Shiva and Shiven of Bangkok, Thailand. He leaves behind his special friend, Sidney Harman of Chesapeake with whom he shared a “sweet potato run for the Food Banks” and many special projects.He is predeceased by his daughter, Tami DeElaine Stevens; brother, Joseph Stevens; his parents, George Stevens, Sr. and Margaret Spratley Stevens.
