George Calvin Ray 1920-2015 Mr. Calvin Ray, 94, of Newnan passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Reliance Healthcare in Griffin. He was born November 12, 1920 in Heard County, GA to the late Columbus Mathis Ray & Emily Dorough Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lilla Kate Jackson Ray. Mr. Ray worked in Newnan as a merchant for several stores located on the Court Square. He was an Army Veteran who served in Japan during World War II. Calvin was a longtime, active member of Newnan First United Methodist Church and was the past president of the Newnan Civitan Club.
