George Rutter, 89, of Shinnston passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness surrounded by his family. He was born September 17, 1919 in Shinnston a son of the late Mike Rutter and Mary Coimar Rutter. He is survived by one daughter, Diann Thomas and her husband Frank of Barrackville; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and twelve great – great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Leota Rutter who passed away in 1991. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Joe Rutter and Bernard “Bud” Rutter; two daughters, Delores Sheehy and Jacqualine “Jackie” Cain; one grandson, George Sheehy and one granddaughter Kimberly Pumphrey; one brother Paul Sutton. Mr. Rutter was a coal miner for over 40 years having worked for Dola, Owens and Clinchfield mines.
