George Affuso, 83, of Holiday City West, Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Lanoka Harbor, Lacey Twp., NJ before moving to Berkeley Twp. 21 years ago.
George was a Firefighter for the North Bergen Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was also President of the International Firefighters Union. He was a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran.
George loved coin collecting and hunting, traveling west and to upstate New York to hunt. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia (nee Miller), his three children Steven Affuso and his wife Joanne of Waretown, NJ, Donna Jean Grando and her husband Andrew of Forked River, NJ, Patricia Ruffo and her husband Kenneth Hayes of Erie, Illinois, two brothers John Affuso of Whiting, NJ, Nicholas Affuso of Wellsboro, PA, five grandchildren Anthony, Andrew, Eric, Virginia, Erica and one great-grandchild Josephine.
