Genevieve M. Wooddell Mearns, 91, of Lost Creek, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Mearns was born in Nicholas County on February 8, 1919 a daughter of the late James Edward and Lena Daff Wooddell. She was married to Carl A. Mearns in May, 1943, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2009. Surviving are one son, Ray A. Mearns, Elkins; two daughters, Linda Maul, Lost Creek, and Patty Wagner, Parsons; four brothers, Lew Wooddell, Louisville, OH, Eugene Wooddell, Rochester, PA, James Wooddell, Louisville, OH, and Bob Wooddell, Trenton, FL; three sisters, Beulah Gay, Louisville, OH, Betty Butcher, Garrison, MN, and Linda Bjornfon, Brainerd, MN; 10 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Chris Mearns; two sisters, Bernice Barnett and Virginia Pernice; and three brothers, Donald Wooddell, Paul Wooddell, and Rod Wooddell. She was Methodist by faith and attended lost Creek United Methodist Church. Genevieve was a homemaker and loved fishing. She was a Rebekah -LEA. She was a loving wife mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
