Geneva Haley, 101, of Moberly, died Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. Geneva was born January 16, 1915, in rural Huntsville, MO, to K.L. and Beulah May (Barnett) West.
Prior to retirement, she worked as an LPN in local hospitals and nursing homes.
She married Frederick Thomas “Fred” Haley on September 13, 1935, in Moberly, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1978. Also preceding her in death were her parents, nine brothers, and sisters.
Survivors include her children Walter Haley of Huntsville, Frieda Gates of Lake City, FL, David Haley and wife Vickie of Moberly, Philip Nolan Hill of Huntsville, Fred Nole Hill and wife Connie of Winter Haven, FL; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends.
Geneva loved to read and write, and had some of her poems and short stories published under the name Meg West Haley. She enjoyed her nursing career and was a member of the first graduating class of the nursing school, which is now known as the MACC Nursing Program.
