Lt. Col. Gene W. Rush, 76, formerly of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Westminster Village, Allentown, after battling Parkinsons Disease with Lewy Body dementia for over 10 years. He was the loving husband of Carole (Berry) Rush, with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage. Born in Washington, PA, Gene was the son of the late Lloyd and Daisy (McConnell) Rush. He graduated from Penn State University in 1960, and then pursued a career in the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War, and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984. Gene then worked as a contract administrator for BAE in York, PA. He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, and was a member of Sun Lakes Methodist Church in Sun Lakes, AZ. He was involved in the Stephens Ministries at various churches, and greatly enjoyed the Army, Penn State University, and playing golf. Survivors: wife Carole; daughter Karen L. Garner and her husband Andrew of Nazareth; son Ronald S. Rush of Carbondale, CO; brother Paul Rush and his wife Patricia of Canonsburg; grandchildren Carson Garner and Blake Rush.
