Gene Phillip Meyers, Sr., 82 of Holiday City Berkeley section of Berkeley Twsp, NJ died on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at his home. Gene was born in Salamanca, NY, and lived in Hillside, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twsp., NJ 36 years ago.
He enjoyed playing pool, working on his vintage cars, being with his loved canine companions, and had a way with his words. Gene worked for Engelhard Industries and Federal Leather and later retired from Naval Weapons Station EARLE as their favorite tour guide with a smile. Gene is predeceased by his parents Theodore and Ruth Meyers; his loving wife Helen Meyers and his sister JoAnn Laratta.
Surviving are his children Gene P. Meyers, Jr. and his wife Angela of Union, NJ, Ruth Meyers of Whiting, NJ, Kevin Meyers and his wife Maria of Union, NJ, Michelle Swido of Toms River, NJ, Diane Taylor and her husband Rich of Forked River, NJ and Helen Jankowski and her husband Curt of Toms River, NJ; a niece Lisa Laratta of Toms River, NJ; a nephew August Laratta of Toms River, NJ; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
