Gene Evans, age 85, of the Good Shepherd Home, died Sunday April 10, 2011. He was born January 21, 1926 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Philip and Helen Evans. Mr. Evans had been a resident of Ashland for the last 18 years. He retired from the City of Winter Springs Florida. Mr. Evans was a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy, he served in WW II. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On November 10, 1946 he married Lydia A. Schmidt they had seven children. Surviving him are his children, Gene (Joanne) Evans of Milford, CT., Bruce Evans of East Haven, CT., Edward (Carolyn) Evans of Fairborn, OH., Patricia Boboc of Milford, CT., Dorothy (Donald) Hankins of Ashland, Debi (Ray) Mercier of Winter Springs, FL., Lauri (Javier) Ramos of Winter Springs, FL.; seventeen Grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; and seven Great- Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Diane E. Drury (1969), three Great Grandchildren, and his wife Lydia A. Evans (2003).
