Gene Ringler filled our lives with love and laughter and now he is home with Our Father in Heaven. As his family, we are the lucky ones who got to share our lives with him but he had many friends who loved him dearly. In fact, a trip to the store to pick up milk could easily take hours if he crossed paths with someone he knew and stopped to chat. Not too long ago, he was walking around a store whistling and someone aisles away heard it and knew who it was… once you heard the happiness in his voice you never forgot it. He was a walking encyclopedia who referred to himself as a “Word Man.” He loved music and had many favorite songs… and some entertained him endlessly just because of the words (“Yes! We have no bananas!”). Playing piano brought him great joy and he played like he was born for it, he was a natural. He loved the game of golf, however no one could call him a golfer. He won the Sultana Championship and wore his coveted green jacket his more than 100 years, he accomplished many things – World War II vet, Firestone employee for 42 years, Trenton resident for 55 years, loving husband for nearly 71 years, father of three, grandfather of two and great grandfather of four. He could have done anything he set out to do, and he chose to live his life surrounded by friends and family who loved him. He always had a smile and thoughtful words for anyone, his eyes were always dancing with joy and in moments of silence, you knew that he lived with profound peace in his heart. He was the rock in our family. He had a kind heart and gentle soul. We will always love him and will never forget him.
