Gene Allen Price, 85 of North East, MD, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton on November 26, 1927, the son of the late Lewis D. and the late Eva (Allen) Price.  Mr. Price was the beloved husband of 63 years of A. Lorraine (Parrett) Price of North East, MD.

He served his country admirably in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1943 -1945 for World War II and a second time from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict.  

Mr. Price retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground were he worked as a Supervisory Training Specialist.   After his retirement, he kept busy as a consultant; worked for Ryland Modular Homes and was a CDL Training Instructor at Cecil College.

He was very involved in his community and county, serving as Cecil County Commissioner from 1984-1986 and serving on the Judicial Nominating Committee.  He was a Commissioner for the Town of North East, serving as Police Commissioner, on the North East Planning Commission and the North East Water Rate Study Committee.  Most recently, he was campaign treasurer for Allyn Price Nickle, Register of Wills.

He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of North East Fire Company with 71 years of service; serving as a Director 1953-1968, Asst. Chief 1964-1967, President 1970, Chairman of Delegates for over 15 years,  on the Equipment Replacement Program 1995 to present and was the announcer for the carnival for many years, a job he truly enjoyed.  For all of his dedication and hard work, he was the recipient of the Harford-Cecil Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame Award.

Mr. Price was a longtime member of North East United Methodist Church and present member of Elkton United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed gardening, politics, fishing and hunting.  He was an avid Orioles, Ravens and Colts fan.  But what he enjoyed most of all was family and the time he spent with them.  

In addition to this loving wife, survivors include: 6 children:  Allyn NIckle (Bob) of Elkton, MD, Thomas A. Price of North East, MD, Gayle J. Wysock (Joe) of Lancaster, PA, Allen L. Price (Patti) of Quarryville, PA,  Alice J. Morse (Jim) of North East, MD and Ray L. Price (Maria) of Kennedyville, MD; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and his in-laws: Mary Jane Toole, Eugene Parrett, Dolores Hague, William Parrett and Sue Simmons

He was preceded in death by 2 sons:  Gene Allen Price, Jr. and Gene Lee Price; and his brother-in-law: Bud Parrett.
