Gayle Eccleston Perrin, 68, or 6 Brookdale Drive, Ashaway lost her battle to Ovarian Cancer, Friday, October 20, 2006 peacefully at her home. She was a loving daughter to Jessie and the late Ray Eccleston and the wife to the late Gordon “Derry” Perrin, whom she was a devoted caregiver for 40 years during his courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Gayle proudly received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Rhode Island College of Education, with which she began her teaching career in Simsbury, CT, before moving to Ashaway, RI. Gayle then chose to dedicate her life to being an amazing caregiver to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was family oriented and community minded. In years past she was a teacher’s aide at the Ashaway Elementary School. For many years she volunteered to do Story Hour for the Ashaway Free Library, a Cub Scout Den Leader and was actively involved with the Ashaway Boy Scouts Troop 1. She loved her memories of growing up at the Quonochontaug beach. She enjoyed arts and crafts, music, books, and especially her friends.
Besides her mother, she leaves two sons, Robert G. Perrin of Ashaway and Michael R. Perrin and his wife Mary Perrin of Hope Valley; two daughters and their husbands, Shari L. and Jim Hurley of Ashaway and Heidi K. and Wally Mitchell of Voluntown, CT;, a Brother-In-Law Robert A. Perrin of Ashaway; two nieces and four nephews. A special acknowledgement of her six grandchildren whom she was very proud of all their achievements: Melissa and David Hurley; Derrick and Corrine Perrin; Kaitlyn and Devin Mitchell.
