Gayle B. Whetzel, age 97, formerly of Nokesville, VA, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Stanardsville, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Hampton Whetzel, her parents, Luther and Cora Bowman and her sisters: Hazel Bowman Shepherd and Marian Allphin. She is survived by her son: Wade H. Whetzel, Jr. and Carole, of Radiant, VA; her grandchildren: Jeff and Gina Whetzel, of Stafford, VA, Paul and Tina Whetzel of Ravenel, SC and Andrew and Lauren Whetzel of North Charleston, SC; her great granddaughter: Augustina Whetzel; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins of the Whetzel, Bowman, Albrite and Snyder families. Gayle is a member of the Manassas Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College and George Mason University; and was a devoted teacher for 45 years. Gayle traveled extensively, was an avid collector and greatly impacted the lives of those who were blessed to know her.
