Gary Stanford Wilson, 64, of Clinton, NC, died July 29, 2015, at his home.
Gary was born in Alton, IL on July 5, 1951 to Warren Lee Wilson and Beverly Sue Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steven Warren Wilson.
He is survived by three brothers, Greg Wilson and his wife, Brenda Creighton-Wilson of Bettendorf Iowa, Marty Wilson and his wife, Jodi Wilson of Lexington SC and Andrew Wilson of Alton Illinois. He is survived by two sisters, Nancy Wilson Doehler and her husband, John Doehler, of Dorado, Puerto Rico, and Beverly Wilson Meredith and her husband, Jim Meredith, of Liberty NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gary graduated from Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina in 1969 and from Appalachian State University in Boone North Carolina. Gary was a talented artist and actor. He loved creating intricate pictures and designs, and he also painted backdrops for the Sampson Community Theatre in Clinton.
He acted in many plays produced by Sampson Community Theatre and enjoyed being a part of that acting fellowship. Gary was witty, fun-loving and sweet-natured and he truly thought “outside of the box.” He was also sensitive, kind and loving in his relations with his family and friends and he will be missed.
