Upland: Gary W. Emmick, “The Greek”, 66, died Monday evening, March 27, 2017, in his residence. He was born one of triplet sons in Chicago, Illinois, to the late William and H. Joyce (Devros) Emmick.
It was newsworthy, as they were one of two sets of triplets born in the southside hospital in one week. It was written about in the Chicago newspaper. He graduated from HL Richards High School, Oak Lawn, Illinois, in 1969 and later earned his Associates Degree from Joliet Junior College, Joliet, Illinois. Gary married Nancy (Brosius) Skogsberg on December 31, 1978. They moved to Marion, Indiana, in 1991, from Bolingbrook, Illinois.
Mr. Emmick, a member of the UAW #977, retired after 34 years of service as a Skilled Tradesman from General Motors, Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Nancy Emmick, Marion; children, Heather Skogsberg, Upland, Nicole (Kevin) Sears, Minooka, Illinois, William (Despina) Emmick, Chicago, Dirk (Janet) Skogsberg, Plainfield, Illinois, and John Emmick, Vincennes; two sisters, Hallie (Paul) Schmied, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Joanne Walczak, Chicago; two brothers, Larry (Dolores) Emmick, Pierceton, Kevin (Eileen) Walczak, Oak Lawn, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Emmick.
