Gary Priebe, age 70, of Algona, Iowa died on Friday, October 17, 2014 at his home. Gary Carl Priebe, the son of Berl Eastman and Madelyn Ruth (Paetz) Priebe, was born on December 5, 1943 in Algona, Iowa.
He graduated from Algona High School in 1962. He attended Iowa State University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Roe Fraternity. On June 21, 1964 Gary was united in marriage with Jennifer Hahne in Webster City. Gary farmed, raised cattle and hogs. He had served as a Commissioner on the Iowa Environmental Protection Division being appointed by Governors Ray, Branstad and Vilsack. Gary enjoyed working, fishing and hunting.
Left to cherish Gary’s memory is his wife of 50 years, Jennifer; children, Cynthia Dawn Priebe Martin of Des Moines, Jamie Kay Priebe Sundet and her husband Scott of Urbandale and Bradley Berl Priebe and his wife Brenda of Algona; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Paula Priebe of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter, Amari Rae Newman; and a sister, Constance Kay Priebe Barth.
