Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Carl and Mildred (Birdsell) Pattschull; his father-in-law, Loyd Minear; mother-in-law, Thelma Minear; and brother-in-law, Ron Minear.
Gary was a graduate of Clear Lake High School. He also graduated Suma Cum Laude from Grinnell College in 1958. While at Grinnell College, he lettered in football and baseball and he was invited to try out for the Baltimore Colts. He also played piano in a Dixieland band during his college years.
Gary was a lifetime supporter of the Animal Rescue League and the Veterans’ Administration. The center of his life was his family.
