Gary Mazey, 82, passed away on May 29, 2023 at Elmwood Skilled Nursing Facility. Born in Perrysburg, OH, he was the eldest son of the late Virgil and Gladys Mazey (Britten). Gary was preceded in death by brother James (Jacque) Mazey. Four siblings survive: Patricia (Roger) Smith, Susan Hudson, Janice (Dave) Foulke, and Rick (Lois) Mazey.
As a member of the Carpenters Local 351, Gary was a master carpenter and craftsman. He led the construction and supervision of several multi-million-dollar commercial projects during his tenure as a tradesman. In his earlier years he was a member of the Van Buren Lions Club 5179 and an Allen Township volunteer firefighter. After retirement from the trades, Gary designed and built his dream home in the Colorado mountains where he and his wife Patsy lived for almost 20 years. When Gary wasn’t in his workshop, he enjoyed motorcycle rides, hunting, old westerns, and listening to classic country music.
Gary is survived by his four children: Mindy Ackerman, Patrick Mazey, Sherry (Michael) Molzhon, and Megan (Michael) Beard as well as his wife Patsy Mazey and her six daughters Lynnette (Chuck) Bates, Linda (Michael) Enden, Rhonda (Tom) McDonald, Lisa (Dwight) Clary, Amy (Jim) Barnes, and Jenny (David) Echols.
