Gary Maurice Briggs, 66, passed away in his sleep on his beloved farm in Letha, Idaho on June 10, 2016.  His sudden departure was both unexpected and disappointing to his family and friends.  We will miss him and are saddened by his absence.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Chaplain (LtCol) David Leland (Lee) Briggs and Evelyn Marie Briggs of the Emmett area and is survived by his daughter, Thea Marie Fuerstenau, two brothers, two nieces, two grandnephews and one grandniece.   As a member of the extensive Karn family, Gary is also survived by numerous cousins in Idaho and Oregon.  We note with appreciation the relationships Gary had with his cousins, Carol Leavett and James Briggs, and with family friend, Jana Nguyen.

Born in Portland, Oregon in 1950 to an Army Chaplain, Gary moved several times.  While Lee served as a front-line minister in the Korean War, Gary lived with his maternal grandparents in Payette, ID.  After the war, assignments took the family to southern California and Germany.

After finishing high school in San Bernardino, Gary started a successful automotive machine shop.  Gary returned to Idaho in 1981, first to Boise and then to Letha where he and Lee established the family farm.
