Gary Lee Travis, 50 of Curlew died Sunday January 20, 2013 at the Kossuth Regional Health Care Center in Algona. Gary Travis, the son of Wyman Sr. and Roberta (Weaver) Travis was born November 14, 1962 in Fort Dodge,IA. He spent his childhood on a farm south of Mallard with his parents, brothers Wyman Jr., Jim and siser Barb. Gary graduated from the Mallard High School in 1982 and later started farming with his father Wyman Sr. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after two years. After returning from the service he started his own trucking company in Curlew, and also worked as a dispatcher for Ag Com. Gary is survived by his two children Sydney Mae born on September 20, 1999 and his son Wade Louis born on September 15, 2000. Gary enjoyed showing cattle, fishing and spending time with friends and family, but most of all spending time with Sidney and Wade. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wyman Sr. and Roberta Travis, sister in law Loretta Travis, great nephew Keaton Wirtz, grandparents Scott and Julia Travis, and Otho and Alta Weaver. His survivors include his childreln Sydney Mae, 14, and Wade Louis, 13 of Curlew, brother Wyman (Becky )Travis of Curelw, IA, brother Jim(Debb) Travis of Mallard, Ia sister Barb( Bruce) Hoffman of Storm Lake, IA and many nices and nephews. Gary loved helping his brother Wyman farm every spring and fall.
