Yorktown, Gary Dennis Nichols, 76, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, at I. U.
Gary was born in Muncie April 13, 1937, the son of Denny and Margurite (Dotson) , Nichols He was retired from General Motors after 29 years and Borg Warner after 4 years. He graduated from Muncie Central High School, a veteran of U.S. Air Force, and a member of Full Gospel Temple. Gary was also a Commercial Pilot flying for Lake Central/Allegheny. He also flew locally for Pizza King and Butterfield Potatoes. Gary was a flight instructor and did some crop dusting and aerobatics. He was the owner operator of Eastside Shell and a skilled machine repairman and mechanic.
Survivors include his wife Peggy (Said) Nichols, Yorktown, three daughters, Denise Stephenson, (husband John), Yorktown, Cindy Perkins,(husband David), Mt. Vernon, Caryn Davenport, (husband Dan) Anderson, two stepsons, Hank Chalfant, (wife Brenda), Cicero, Charlie Chalfant, Muncie, twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Julie Nichols and Charmaine Myers.
