Gale E. Schilling, 80, of Iuka, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born April 30, 1938 in Jefferson County, Illinois, son of Edward Schilling and Dora (Roper) Schilling.

He is survived by three children: Ricky Schilling and wife Carla of Centralia, Randy Schilling of Centralia and Connie Parker and husband Joe of Centralia,; seven grandchildren: Leslie Parker of St. Louis, Lisa Pinkston and husband Ryan of Marion, Joey Parker and Amanda Monken of Centralia, Blake Schilling of Centralia, Christopher Schilling and wife Amy of Centralia, Lucas Schilling and wife Brittany of Centralia, and Zack Schilling of Centralia; two step grandson’s: Michael Hossler and fiancé Taylor Ladwig of Centralia and Jerry Hossler, Jr. of Patoka; five great grandchildren and one due in December; 2 step-great grandchildren; a brother: Leland Schilling and wife Gloria of Maquon; three sisters: Ganell Lamb of Edwardsville, Marilyn Zimmerman of Chillicothe, and Nancy Kern and husband Joe of Centralia; a sister-in-law: Charlene Schilling of Dix; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Jo Bodine and husband Steve of Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: John Schilling and Ronnie Schlling, and a brother-in-law: Bob Zimmerman.

Gale worked at Glores Lumber Company and Rockwell/Cambridge for several years. He was a member of the Centralia Moose Lodge 1219. He enjoyed spending time at his farm with his miniature horses and baling hay. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, coon and deer hunting, tractor pulls. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
