Fritzner (Fritz) Belande, affectionately known as Yoyo Pipirite, was born on January 28, 1955, to Bessome Belande and Justimène André in Port-au-Prince Haiti. He attended Herman Hero for his primary studies, and in his secondary school, he attended College Frere Adrien du Sacre-Coeur. Fritz was an avid soccer player. He played as a goalie for his secondary school and the National Ligue of Port-au-Prince. He played Tenor Sax for his secondary school band and was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Fritz was highly active in the church. He was an altar server, a choir member, and a youth group member of Cénacle des Jeunes de St Bernadette. As a member of the latter group, he completed his Culinary Arts studies. Fritz took the time to share his culinary passion with many students at the school “Aux Droigts Magiques.”
Fritz left school to ensure his pregnant girlfriend, Renia, and future child would be cared for. His first foray into the workforce was at the Publishing Company of Theodore, then at Telhomme Publishing. He then worked as a security officer for El Rancho Hotel.
Fritz travelled to Canada to search for a better life in 1988, but he migrated to New York shortly after. After he arrived in the United States, he met his first wife, Margot, and they were together for a few years. Fritz worked hard to bring his two children to the United States from Paris, France, where they lived there with their mother.
Fritz met Roslyn, the love of his life, and used his considerable charm to convince her to give him a chance. Fritz and Roslyn were splendid examples of selfless love. Their union was inspiring and made from heaven. Fritz was a caring husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, and uncle. Fritz was always giving of himself and was content in life. Fritz took great care of himself and was a personal trainer to many people, he was an honorary member of Diamond Gym in Maplewood, NJ. Fritz usually finds a way to bring joy to others. He was a great friend, trustworthy, confident, humble, giving and a supporter. Fritzner was employed with the Irvington Board of Education until he became ill in 2019, which lead to his retirement in 2020.
Fritzner Belande, 66, of Irvington, NJ, passed away on December 12, 2021, at home holding the hands of his loving wife Roslyn Gumbs Belande, after a prolonged battle with a Hypertension leading to Cerebral Infractions.
Fritzner was predeceased by his parents, Bessome and Justimène, and sister Leone. He is survived by his wife, Roslyn; his brother, Arnold (Lylie) Belande; his two children, Yvelande Belande and Arland (Rose Andre) Belande; his bonus children, Shawn Gumbs-Gomez, Haley Carter, Alana Carter, and Hannah Carter; his grandchildren, Tanesha, Leahanna, Arland Jr., Kenzo and Raiden; his nieces, Irlande and Marie Yanley (Lympso); his nephews, Frantz, Oswald, and Max Steven (Marie Cam). His Mother in Love Brenda (Chad) Lewis, Sisters -In- Loves: Camille Gumbs, Norlene Gumbs, and Alicia Lewis. Brother in Love, Anthony Lewis. a host of Aunts and Uncles in Love, Cousins, loved ones and friends.
