Fredrick Harold Taylor, 91, of Newburg, WV, died on May 10, 2016, at Beulahland Personal Care in Grafton.

Fredrick was born April 9, 1925, in Masontown, a son of the late Vera Beryl (McClure) Taylor Wilhelm and Ralph Harold Taylor.

Fredrick was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, serving as an MP transporting German prisoners. He worked in the coal mines for 42 years, from Brookside Mining to Chapel Coal, and then retired as a mine foreman from Island Creek Coal in 1987. Fred was a past member of the Masontown Lions Club, several VFW clubs in Preston County, the past Chair of the Solid Waste Authority, past Chairman of the Democratic Committee, Chair of the WV Regional Black Lung, and established the Black Lung Clinics in Newburg and Grafton.

He is survived by two sons and spouse, Martin and Janey Taylor, Chip Taylor, all of Newburg; one daughter and spouse, Rhonda and Ralph Jenkins of Newburg; one brother and spouse, Jack and Pat Taylor of Kingwood; seven grandchildren, Kelly Jenkins, Robert Morris, Pamela Morris, Ashley Jenkins, Alex Jenkins, Zane Taylor, Chelsea Taylor; one great-granddaughter, Kumari Marie Jenkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his his wife, Gloria Mae (Beal) Taylor; one son, Dan Fredrick Taylor; one daughter, Nancy Gail Taylor; step-father, Lloyd Wilhelm; brothers, Rex, Walter, Hubert; sisters, Christine Martino and Madlyn Menear.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street on Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8pm; on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 10:00 a.m.
