West Sand Lake – Frederick T. Davis, 84, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at Van Rensselaer Manor, North Greenbush, NY.

Born in Swampscott, MA, he was the son of Kenneth B. Davis and Audrey Keyzer Davis and husband of Bobi Doyle Davis. He had resided in Poestenkill, NY for many years and for the past 40 years in West Sand Lake, NY. He was a 1951 graduate of Averill Park High School and attended Syracuse University.

Mr. Davis was a member of Laborers’ Local 190. He worked construction for many years with several different companies, retiring from Beltrone Construction in 1995 as a labor foreman.

He was a Drill Instructor in the Marine Corp from 1953 to 1956 during the Korean War. He raced canoes for more than 50 years and was a world and national champion whitewater and marathon paddler. He enjoyed outdoor sports and coached Pop Warner football in Averill Park for eleven years. Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, Matthew F. Davis of Seattle, WA, his brother Ralph “Mike” Davis of Watervliet, NY and his sister Audrey Davis of Round Lake, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth “Pete” Davis and his sister, Sandra Stiles.
