The Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Auman, Jr. passed away on February 5, 2022, in Willowbrooke Court, St. Andrew’s Estates, Boca Raton, FL under Trustbridge hospice care. Born on February 26, 1930 in Lackawanna, NY, son of Frederick P. and Mildred (Thompson) Auman, he graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1947, Niagara University, 1952, and United Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia, 1955.
During his pastorate in New Haven he served on the Committee on Death and Dying at Yale-New Haven Hospital, whose work resulted in construction of the first free-standing hospice in America in Branford, CT. After retirement he continued to do supply preaching, interim pastoring and working with troubled congregations under the Healthy Congregations and Bridgebuilders programs. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Scleroderma Foundation and the local southeast Florida chapter, raising funds for research, education, and support.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, a sister Phyllis (Auman) Godlewski, grandson Michael Auman, our lovable canines Noah (11 yr. old liver spot Dalmatian) and Sweep and Ritse (Tibetan Spaniels). He is survived by his beloved family: wife, Patricia (Kinzer) Auman; children, David Auman, husband of Angela (Bennet) of Waynesboro, PA; Elizabeth Auman, wife of Steven Seidemann of Boca Raton, FL; and Martin Auman, husband of Christine (Fegeley) of Furlong, PA; grandchildren, Jason Auman, Jonathan Auman, Erika Auman, Samantha Auman, Madeline Auman, Annabel Seidemann, and five great-grandchildren.
Fred’s cremains will be interred in The Columbarium Garden at St.
