Frederick (Fred) passed away at home on Monday, December 7, 2020, with his daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law by his side. He fought a long battle against Congestive Heart Failure, beating the odds and living several years longer than the normal elderly patient with his degree of heart failure.
Fred was born on November 24, 1930, to Howard and Hilda Allen (Wilke) in McPherson, Kansas. His father was originally from New York and the family soon moved back to New York, where Fred and his siblings grew up.
Fred met his only wife at a dance hall that his best friend, Frank, talked him into going to. Fred and Annette eventually married and had a daughter, Laura Allen (Allen-Wade). They moved to Florida and divorced when Laura was a toddler. Annette remarried and moved out of state with Laura. Although Fred did not live close to his daughter while she was growing up, he made sure to see her and take her on vacations to meet extended family. His mother often accompanied him on the trips with Laura.
Fred spent several decades living in Pompano Beach, Florida. He worked mainly in technology and real estate. He eventually retired and moved back to Sayville, New York to help care for his mother. After she passed, he moved to Boise, Idaho to be close to his daughter. While living in New York and caring for his mother, he and his best friend, Frank, enjoyed short trips to Atlantic City, New Jersey.
After moving to Idaho in the 1990s, Fred enjoyed taking road trips to Jackpot and Las Vegas; his daughter often accompanied him. Fred enjoyed playing craps and even built his own craps table to practice on. He tried to teach his daughter and had better luck with teaching his granddaughter, Arianna, who was born in 2001. Fred also enjoyed woodworking and gardening, before his heart failure became severe. At age 80, Fred purchased his first computer and taught himself how to use it. He played the penny stock market until a few weeks before his death, as it helped him stay mentally fit.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Laura Allen-Wade; son-in-law, Justin Wade; and granddaughter, Arianna Allen (all of Nampa). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Francis Allen, Howard Allen, and Priscilla Miller (Allen); and his best friend Frank Bizzocco (New York).
