Frederick J. Krycka, 65, of New Buffalo, Michigan, died Thursday evening, December 21, 2006, in South Bend, Indiana, with his wife at his side.Fred was born September 28, 1941 in Michigan City, Indiana to John and Anne (Kinst) Krycka. He grew up in New Buffalo on Maudlin Road and graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1959. He continued his education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, earning his Masters Degree in Education.

Fred taught for one year at Centreville High School before returning home to New Buffalo High School where he taught Biology until his retirement thirty years later. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, and, after retirement, Fred continued to work hard and enjoy the outdoors at his Harbor Country Nursery on Kinst Road. His love of gardening and reading were expanded as a member of the Four Seasons Gardeners of LaPorte and the Harbor Country Book Club. Fred enjoyed ballroom dancing, his favorite dance was the Polka.Survivors include his wife, Suzanne, who he married November 15, 1998; sons, Chris (Michelle) Krycka of Rolling Prairie, Indiana and Ryan (Melissa) Krycka of LaPorte, Indiana; grandchildren, Nicole and her fiancé© T.J. Eldridge, Jessica, Brooke and another grandchild on the way; his mother, Anne Krycka of New Buffalo; sister, Theresa (Reggie) Richardson of New Buffalo; nephew, Paul Richardson; step children, John Michalski of South Bend and Jessica (Michael) Spite of Manhattan, New York. Fred was preceded in death by his father.
