Obituary of Frederick E. Minster

Minster, Frederick “Fred” of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Caretel Inns Nursing Home after a short illness. He was 91 years old. Frederick Edward Minster was born on March 31, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Leonard and Helen (Kummert) Minster. Fred would work as a Millwright for Malleable Iron Foundry for 26 and half years before retiring on disability. Fred was faithful and active member for both Faith Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan and Joy Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida. In his spare time, for many years, Fred was a Square Dance Caller and called for clubs in Saginaw, Bay City, Reese, Midland, West Branch, among others in Michigan. Additionally, he also called for clubs in Ocala, Florida. Fred also enjoyed traveling, cruising, antiquing, and visiting wineries and microbreweries. Fred is survived by his wife of 21 years, Judith (Bender) Minster; daughter, Bonnie (Patrick) Schmidt; two brothers: Leonard Minster of Nevada and George (Norma) Minster of Bay City; ex-wife, Ruth Minster; four step-children: Tammie Rutherford, Douglas (Barbara) Slack, Eric (Michele) Slack, and Robert Slack; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank and Eugene Minster; two daughters: Debbie Lou Jones and Judy Ann Minster; sister-in-law, Mary Minster; and great-grandson, Chandler Slack.

Per Fred’s request, cremation has taken place.
