Frederick Donald Ludwig, 85, of Taneytown, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 13, 1936 in Glen Burnie to the late Frederick and Martha Drier Ludwig. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Louise Brown Ludwig.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jeffrey Ludwig of Florida, Michael Ludwig and wife Sharon of Minnesota, and Stacie Dowling and husband Gregory of Taneytown, Maryland; five grandchildren, Brandon Ludwig and fiancé Morgan Zeberlein, Nathaniel Dowling and wife Emili, Amelia Dowling, Megan Ludwig, Rachel Ludwig and fiancé Trenton Bless; great-grandson Colton Ludwig.
Frederick attended the University of Maryland and has a BS in Accounting from the Baltimore College of Commerce, now part of the University of Baltimore. He was a member of the National Guard, Nike Missile Unit. He met his wife Charlotte, while both working at Baltimore Gas and Electric. He spent 32 years at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland as Chief Business Officer, retiring on December 31, 2004. He served on the Board of Educators Benefit Services. He came out of retirement in February 2006 to serve as President of Educators Benefit Services until 2011, when he retired for a second time. Frederick and Charlotte owned Travel For You, a Travel Agency in the White Marsh Mall. He was a Lutheran all of his life and an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westminster, Maryland. He served on the Congregational Council for six years, and served as a Treasurer for four years. He also served as an usher and communion assistant. For a period of time before he became ill, he served as a Treasurer and a member of the Carroll Lutheran School Board. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan.
