Frederick A. Strong 81, of 124 Pequot Drive, Charlestown, husband of Edith W. (Riley) Strong, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Westerly, Aug. 3, 1925 a son of the late Herbert D. Strong, Sr., and Mary E. (Burdick) Strong
Mr. Strong worked for Harris Graphics for 25 years as a crane operator later a tool crib operator before retiring previously he worked for 15 years at the Bradford Dye Association and Nat Lewis Oil Co.
He was a life long member (65 years) and head deacon in the Niantic Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school.
He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II he served aboard the USS Lucid & USS Chain
He graduated from Westerly High School Class of 1943
He was an avid hunter, fisherman enjoyed gardening, family camping trips and hiking. He was a member of the South County Archers, RI Beach Buggy Association and the NRA
Besides his loving wife of 59 years he is survived by a daughter Elaine Kenney and her husband Richard of Rockville, a daughter in-law Charlotte D. Strong of Colchester, CT.
Two brothers Rev. Richard Strong of Lisbon, CT, Kenneth B. Strong of Stratford, TX. Three grandchildren Donna L. Kenney, Amy E. Strong, Alan R. Kenney
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Dennis A. Strong and a brother Herbert D. Strong, Jr.
