Survivors include, his mother, Helen (Jones) York of Franklin, seven sisters, Ruby (Rudy) McCoig, Reba Marshall, Rita (Jim) Davis, Judy Ann (Kerry) Bryant, Carolyn McWhorter, Doris Shelton and Donna (Rick) Hines, three brothers, Jim (Yan), Eddie and Larry McWhorter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer L. McWhorter and brother, Samuel McWhorter, and two sisters, Mary Ledbetter and JoAnne Riley.
