Fredalene M. Bennett, 94, of Clyde, Ohio died Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Bellevue Hospital.

She was born in Fremont, Ohio on August 26, 1920 to Fred and Ruth Ethyl (Donnell) Payden. Her father, a lineman, died of electric shock four months before her birth. Her mother nourished an provided for eight children during the very uncertain, turbulent and tough times of the early Twentieth Century. Mrs. Bennett was educated in both Michigan and Fremont, Ohio public schools.

She was an active USO volunteer and assisted with the war effort by building carbines at The Standard Products Co. After WWII, on December 16, 1945, she married Robert James Bennett. They soon moved to Clyde where she has resided in the same home for the last sixty-eight years. Her husband died on July 9, 1979. The bore two children who survive them: LaMar James and Alan Keith (Vikki) Bennett.

She is also survived by Grandson, Colin Robert (Emily) Bennett of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Great Granddaughter, Addison Louis Bennett of North Ridgeville; Granddaughter Ashley Nicole Bennett of Columbus, Ohio; Granddaughter Shane Marie (Hoburg) (Bryan) McCracken and great grandsons, Gavin and Hayden McCracken of Bowling Green, Ohio. Another survivor is Debbie Bennett, mother of Ashley in Springfield.

She is preceded in death by brother Merle, Glenn and Floyd Payden; and Don, Jean, and Keith Harlan; and sisters Anna Belle Payden and Rae Arnold Newman.

Mrs. Bennett will be remembered for her kindness, responsibility and work ethic. If you needed her, she would be there. she was an avid basketball fan and also sang with the Sweet Adelines. She was a life member of the First United Methodist Church and both the VFW and Eagles.
