Freda Maria Gomez was born on February 16, 1938, in Boulder, Colorado; to her parents, SirJo Archuletta and Fannie Marganarce Archuletta. She was the first born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Sonny and her sister, Elaine. Growing up, Freda loved horseback riding and working with her father in the garage.
