Fred Hoekstra, age 83, of Beecher, IL at peace after a long courageous battle of pulmonary fibrosis Tuesday, September 21, 2010. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Margaret Hoekstra nee Van Kalker.
Loving children: daughter Diane (Bill) Vlietstra of Beecher, IL and son: Fred (Jane) Hoekstra of Crown Point, IN. Special grandchildren: Kristin (Chad) Schmidt, Bill (Trisha) Vlietstra, Kim (Kevin) DeBlock, Aron (Sarah) Hoekstra, Ryan (Kim) Hoekstra and Kara (Brandon) Taylor; Precious great-grandchildren: Niko Pellegrini, Hayley & Mason Schmidt, Abby & Nick DeBlock, Billy Vlietstra, Blake, Adam & Claire Hoekstra and Lucas Hoekstra.
Dear caring sister Mae (late Albert) Witvoet. Compassionate brothers & sisters-in-law Wally & Arlene Leistra and Ralph & Lois Hoekstra. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Fred & Grace Hoekstra; brothers: Emil (Mary) Hoekstra, Richard (Ellen) Hoekstra; sisters: Sue (Herman) Haan, Sarah (Ray) Kraai, Kate (Richard) DeKreek, Jeanette (Melvin) Jongsma and Grace (Jacob) Veenstra.
He retired after 43 years as a laborer on construction. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.
