Fred I Fletemeyer Jr. (77) died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born on November 4, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Fred & Martha Fletemeyer. He spent his early childhood growing up in Detroit, MI until his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1958. After graduating from Palmer High School, he attended Colorado State University. Fred Fletemeyer Company General Contractors Inc. was established by his father in 1961. He spent summers with the company during high school & college, joining the company in 1973. He had a long & successful career as a general contractor. He developed Fred Fletemeyer Company into a thriving business, now in it’s third generation.
Fred was a patriot & loved the military. In the 1990’s, he served on the Colorado Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR). He also served as the Colorado State Chairman from 2000 – 2006. He loved & cherished his time with ESGR. During his time, he had amazing opportunities to directly experience some of the incredible things our military does. Some of his experiences included flying in an F-16 fighter jet, landing & spending time on an aircraft carrier, taking many flights on the C-130’s with the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson AFB to airlift Civic leaders to become more familiar with various military operations. Fred loved the people at the 302nd Airlift Wing (AF Reserve) where he was highly instrumental in supporting those who were serving our country. He was also selected multiple times to attend specific courses at the Army, Naval & Air Force War Colleges. In 2006, Fred Fletemeyer Company received the Freedom Award from the Department of Defense.
