Fred E. Schwering, age 80, Logansport, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in Chase Center.
Born July 13, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of Eugene and Beulah Wise Schwering.
On August 14, 1960, in Logansport, he was married to Suanne McNutt, who survives.
Fred was a 1955 graduate of Logansport High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
After college, Fred was invited to spring training with the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles. He went to Florida for 2 weeks, then came home, married Suanne and entered the United States Army.
Fred retired from Matthew-Warren.
Surviving, in addition to Suanne, are sons, Steve Schwering, Logansport, and Scott (Shauna) Schwering, Tucson; granddaughter, Mazzie Schwering; several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Ronald Schwering, and sister, Susan Flora, preceded him in death.
