Fred Barrett was born to Clarence and Lela Barrett on August 4, 1939 in Montrose, Co where he was raised.  Upon graduation from high school, he moved to Durango, CO and began his sales career with Levine’s Department Store. He transferred to Levine’s in Santa Fe, NM in 1960.  He took a two-year hiatus due to his enlistment with the US Army, then returned to Santa Fe and his job with Levine’s in 1962. He was united in holy matrimony to Georgia Sanchez in August of 1964. Fred and Georgia moved to Alamosa, CO and then Durango, CO where he continued his sales career with Levine’s. In 1973 Fred decided to begin a career in real estate in Santa Fe, which would become the career of a lifetime!  During this period of their lives, Fred and Georgia were blessed with the birth of their two daughters. Over the next 40 years Fred was owner and partner of Barrett, Beers & Associates as well as broker with Coldwell Banker and Santa Fe Properties. Up until the time of his death Fred, continued to advise his clients on real estate transactions which he referred to local brokers for closure.  

Fred was an active member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. Fred’s love of all things in nature will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Avid camper, fisherman and devoted Dallas Cowboy Fan, surrounded by his devoted family, he departed this life Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Christus St. Vincent Hospital due to a catastrophic hemorrhagic brain bleed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lela, sisters, Lucy and Elnora and brother James, his parents-in-law and other extended family members.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of many including his wife of 53 years, Georgia, his children Tricia Barrett (Lani) of Monterey, CA and LeAnne Barrett (Sara) of Long Beach, CA, brothers, Bruce (Peggy) and Charles (Iris), brother’s-in-law; Adam Tapia and Steve Sanchez (Dianna), sister’s-in-law; Louella Mo, Elaine Otero (Leo), Debora Willford (Kirk). Godchildren; Melissa Olivar, Alvin Gill-Tapia, Kristofer Vigil, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.

A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on 1/22/2019.

Beloved Fred, your bright blue eyes, loving smile, and quirky sense of humor will forever be missed. Fly with the angels, save a place for us by your side with God and our Savior Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Heaven.
