Franklin P. Herber, a longtime Beacon resident, died June 11, 2022 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Pawling; he was 86 years old. He was born on May 2, 1936 in Patterson, NJ, son of the late Jacob & Sara (Hercberg) Herber.
Franklin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957, and received an honorable discharge for his service. He worked as a Correction Officer for many years at the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon, NY; until he retired. Franklin was a former member of the Beacon Hebrew Alliance Synagogue in Beacon, NY; he was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Franklin is survived by his two sons, Rabbi Jacob Herber and Nathan Herber; his six grandchildren and close-friends also survive. He was predeceased by his wife Mercedes T. (Aspiecueta) Herber on December 10, 2015.
His Family and Friends gathered privately for a committal service with military honors from the United States Army Honor Guard on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
