Franklin Edward Friederich, 85, of Metamora, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
Born August 5, 1934 in Alta, Illinois he was the son of Esra and Mathilda (Ott) Friederich. He married Merridy Ann Altorfer on June 24, 1956 at the Altorfer home in Peoria.
He is survived by wife, Merridy; sons, Vincent (Kathie) Friederich of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Victor (Robin) Friederich of Eureka, Illinois, Van (Leslie) Friederich of Goodfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Kristie (Craig) McDougal, Valerie (Shawn) Boren, Vanna (Cole) Jones, Amanda (Shawn) King-Opper, Jillian (Brandon) Graves, Zachary (Timmy) Friederich, Tristan Friederich, Luka Friederich; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Esra Friederich, Robert (Rosemary) Friederich, Richard (Sandy) Friederich; sisters, Bernadine (Alden) Ashbaugh, Julia (Orely) Aten, Barbara (Lyle) Begner, Mary Lou Dunkerley, Sylvia (Albert) Burdette, Debra Friederich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Valerie Ann Friederich.
Frank proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1951 to 1959. After marriage, he landed on a farm outside of Metamora where he and Merridy raised their family. In between farm tasks, Frank drove a truck, delivering freight and goods around the central Illinois area, and started his own business, “Triple V Trucking”. His hobby was stock car racing at the local dirt tracks. He also drove a school bus for a while and was known to fish-tail it on slippery roads to the jubilation of the students.
