Frank W. Wood, age 88 of Sanford died at his residence on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The son of the late William W. and Hilma (Bygden) Wood was born on September 2, 1926 in Saginaw. He was raised and educated there and attended Arthur Hill High School. As a child, he also enjoyed living at the family farm in Tawas. He met the love of his life, Arlene “Dot” George while in a photography class at the TB Sanatorium and they were married on November 27, 1953 in Saginaw. Arlene predeceased him on May 24, 2009.

Frank started his working career as a truck driver for B & K Corp. and retired thirty seven years later as their purchasing agent. Frank and Arlene moved to Sanford in 1972 where they continued to raise their family. As a young man, he was the Voice of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at the Bancroft Hotel in Saginaw. After his retirement his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He volunteered driving for Meals on Wheels for 12 years and enjoyed time with his neighbors over coffee at McDonald’s. Frank will always be remembered and loved as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to many.

Frank is survived by his son Rod (Bernadette) Wood of Sanford; his daughter Tonnie Wood of Sanford and his sister Virginia Ruhstorfer of Muskegon. He is also survived by his grandchildren William & Jacob Wood and Olivia Tate Jenkins, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by a special friend Keith “Butch” Whipple and beloved cat Cocoa. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Wood and Lorraine Rueff.
