Frank W. Fredericks, age 77, loving son, husband, father and grandfather, died in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday November 26, 2009 after suffering a lengthy illness. He was born June 26, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Helen and Frank Fredericks and spent his childhood in Sharon Hill, PA. He graduated from Sharon Hill High School in 1951. Frank served in the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps, during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He attained the rank of sergeant. On April 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Carmela G. Dolce in Burlington, NJ. Frank and Carmela lived in Sharon Hill, PA before moving to Burlington in 1968. Frank began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1952 and retired from Conrail in 1990 after 38 years of service in Railroad Operations and Labor Relations.

Frank was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He loved to sing and enjoyed performing with the Burnt Cork musical production for a number of years. Frank was an active member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Frank was a stalwart Philadelphia sports fan; especially baseball. He coached many little league teams for his children and loved to teach the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. Above all, Frank cherished his grandchildren and was most happy when surrounded by them. Frank is survived by his wife, Carmela, his sons and their wives, Gary and Linda of Newark, DE; and Bruce and Theresa of Pennington, NJ; four grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Jonathan and Corey. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Frank Fredericks of Sharon Hill, PA. Frank was an only child.
