Frank P. Vitale, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Florence C. (Minuni) Vitale, who passed away in 1995. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Jack and Grace (Caiozzo) Vitale.
Frank served his country honorably with the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII. He served as an M.P. and received the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and the Good Conduct Medal. Frank worked as shipping and receiving supervisor for Durkee Foods in Bethlehem for 38 years, until retiring in 1983. He was a life member of the West Side Republican Club and bartended there for 35 years until age 88. He was also an active member of the Washington Republican Club. Frank was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
SURVIVORS: He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Jaqueline G. Abel and husband Jim of Bethlehem, Barbara A. Gotzon and husband Michael, with whom he resided; son James P. Vitale of Bethlehem; daughter Anna J. Fatzinger and husband Michael of Bethlehem; sister Marianne Solari and husband Maurice of Macungie; grandchildren Bonnie Beverley, Michelle Hamilton, Matthew Vitale, Kyle Fatzinger, Marissa Costa, and James Vitale, Jr., and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
