Frank Dwight Chapman, age 90, of Meridian, Idaho passed away after a short illness, having lived a full and eventful life. Frank was born April 22, 1927 to Raymond and Hazel Chapman in Lander, Wyoming and was the first of four children. Until leaving home, he helped his parents operate the R/O cattle ranch in the Lander area. Frank graduated from Lander High School in 1945 where he excelled in math and playing the trumpet. He led his own dance band, performing many concerts and high school engagements.
In 1945, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Air Force traveling and performing with the Air Force Band, and obtained the rank of Sargent. Upon discharge, he attended Barnes Business College under the GI Bill. In 1949 he was employed by a CPA firm in Cheyenne, Wyoming as an accountant, and in 1956 was appointed manager of the firm’s Laramie, Wyoming office. Several years later he purchased the Laramie accounting practice, which was operated successfully until it was sold in 1979. After that the family moved to Washington State where he was the CPA and CFO for a chain of newspapers. He later opened his own successful accounting firm in Centralia, Washington. In 2000 he moved his CPA practice to Boise, Idaho and had an active practice until 2007 when he sold the business and semi-retired to enjoy traveling and playing golf.
He was married to his high school sweetheart Velma for 67 years and they had three children, Bruce, Barbara, and Bonnie. Frank is survived by his daughter Barbara Lobdell; grandchildren – Malisa and Chris Werner, Ben Chapman, and Roxann Roche; brother Raymond Chapman; sister Ruth Butler; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Velma Chapman, brother Darrell Chapman, son Bruce Chapman and daughter Bonnie Prahl.
