Francisco “Pancho” G. Holguin, age 87, of Las Cruces passed away on November 22, 2021. He was born January 12, 1934 in Deming, NM to Francisca and Liberato Holguin. Francisco attended and graduated from Deming High School.

Two weeks after graduation he volunteered for the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Francisco also served in the United States Navy. While in the Marine Corp from 1953 to 1957 he reached the rank of SGT.  During this time, he went to military school and was certified as an aircraft reciprocating (Propeller) engine and jet engine mechanic and earned an American Defense and Good Conduct and Presidential Unit Citation Medals. While in the Navy from 1958 to 1962 he reached the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and was trained and certified as an aircraft structural mechanic and earned an American Defense and Good Conduct Medals.

Three years out of the military Francisco married Barbara Woods. In 1966 they left for California as he found work with Lockheed Aircraft Corp. Francisco advanced as a Leadman (Foreman) and was fortunate to get his secret clearance from the Federal Government and Lockheed to work at the well-known “Skunk Area” or ADP (Advanced Development Projects). In 1984 after twenty years, he retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corp. In the middle of 1984, he began work for Northrop Aircraft Corp. as a Structural Aircraft Mechanic and retired in 1993. In 1994 he returned to his “Roots” to spend his retirement years with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Holguin, son Frank Holguin (Charlotte) of El Paso, daughter Patricia Holguin (Cyndi Ortega) of California, grandson Elias Gabriel Holguin and step grandson Andrew Narro, brother Arturo Holguin (Teresa) of Deming, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Eddie and Liberato “Lee” Holguin and sister Rebecca Vega.
